18V workshop vacuums

A workshop vacuum on the same battery as your tools saves you cables on the job. My pick: the Bosch GAS 18V-10 L, with 10 litres, L class and a HEPA filter.

Generic cordless workshop vacuum next to a pile of sawdust
Illustrative image: it isn’t any of the models compared.

It picks up dust, sawdust and liquids. It isn’t a cordless stick vacuum: it’s a small drum with a site-grade filter.

L class means it’s rated for low-hazard dust (timber, plaster). For lots of concrete dust you need M class.

What to look for before you buy

  • Tank capacity: 7-11 litres is normal on battery.
  • Wet and dry.
  • L dust class and a HEPA filter if you’ll pick up fine dust.
  • It can connect to your tools to extract dust while you cut or sand.

The pros and cons summarise opinions that come up again and again in the reviews and forums linked in the sources. I haven’t tested these tools in person.

What about Milwaukee?

I don’t include it with an Amazon link: its extended guarantee only covers purchases from an authorised distributor. If you already have M18 batteries, look for this model with the official dealer locator.

My pick

Bosch GAS 18V-10 L if you’re on blue Bosch. On Einhell, the TP-VC 18/10 is a very good buy. The weights aren’t fully comparable: some brands quote them with the battery and others without.
